One couple from Auckland didn’t want to waste their time on that and opted for an outburst of pure joy instead. They couldn’t stop giggling after it turned out one of their tickets was worth $6.300.000.
Fortunate couple snatched this amazing prize after correctly guessing the numbers 3, 4, 8, 9, 13 and 15 with the Power Ball 6 in New Zeeland’s version of popular game. The draw took place on August 25th and the husband noticed an email from lottery officials one day later. He remembered reading a news story about a major winner who also got an email after hitting it big, and opened it right away. The husband thought their prize amounted to $6.000 at first, but the couple quickly realized it’s worth much more.
“Sure enough when I opened up the results page and saw that there had been one winner… and there were our numbers. Things like this just don’t happen to people like us, so we really couldn’t believe that we had won $6.300.000,” said the husband.
The two burst into laughter after discovering their victory and headed to the local café to celebrate. The couple wanted to walk up to a first stranger who crossed their path and share the lucky news with them, but they managed to keep their composure. Now that the prize is safely tucked away in their bank account, two Auckland residents can make exciting plans for the future.
“We know that we want to help out our family and set our kids up for the future, but we definitely want to have fun along the way – after all, it’s not every day you get this kind of opportunity. We feel incredibly lucky,” explained the couple.
