Some people would argue a lottery ticket isn’t a good Father’s Day gift, but that’s just because it never brought them $2.200.000. That’s what happened to one man from Australia, who hit an enormous jackpot with a ticket he got as a present.
One woman from Aldinga Beach bought two lotto tickets as a gift for her husband and father, while she was out with her mum. After the draw took place, her mother texted her to check if she had a chance to look at her numbers, because someone in their area matched them all. She immediately had a hunch the ticket she purchased for her husband was the winning one.
“I just kind of knew for some reason it was me, so I ran and grabbed the ticket and scanned it on the app and saw that we had won! I called her back straight away and my mum thought I was joking at first. My husband and I can be pranksters at times so they didn’t believe us for a while,” recalled the winner.
She purchased the golden ticket from Campbell’s Newsagency at Morphett Vale, and joked she had the worst night’s sleep of her life after discovering it was worth $2.200.000. The couple will use the money to pay off their house, make investments, buy a new car, go on a holiday, and save the rest for their children’s future. To make things even more exciting, the lucky draw took place on a very special day in couple’s life.
“The date it was drawn on actually our wedding anniversary and the game number we won on was our lucky number which was three. So it seems a bit crazy that it was sentimental things to us, but we had no idea,” said the winner after collecting this amazing windfall.
