Spending an extra $2 leads to a $1.000.000 Powerball victory

As soon as Gerald Rokan decided to spend $2 on another Powerball ticket, he had a strange feeling it could be an indicator of better things to come. It turned out he made the right choice, since that quick pick transformed him into the winner of an impressive $1.000.000 Powerball jackpot.

Mr. Rokan correctly guessed the winning numbers 14, 29, 36, 57 and 61, but missed the Power Ball 17 on May 5th. He purchased the ticket after making a quick stop at Chuck and BJ’s located on Benham St. in Bonne Terre on his way from church. The fortunate Missouri resident was very close to never scooping $1.000.000, but after finding some spare change inside his wallet he decided it’s worth a shot.

“I had money in my billfold. I had a five and one single that I saw. And as she was starting to get me my tickets, I said, ‘Well, go ahead and give me another one because I found two more dollars. And my comment to her was, ‘This might be an indicator,’” recalled Mr. Rokan.

It turned out his hunch was right since the ticket he purchased with the extra $2 made him $1.000.000 richer. After checking his numbers, Mr. Rokan thought his eyes were just playing tricks on him, and his wife Norma felt the same way after he shared the lucky news.

“At that time I thought, ‘I better try these other glasses.’ I just kept comparing it, but I had no idea what I had won. I mean, it shows on that printout, but it still wasn’t registering. This is a once-in-a-lifetime thing!” said Rokan.
