When Lexus introduced their Sport Yacht concept last year, they described it as a limited edition model that would never hit the market. Undeniable success of this bespoke project inspired them to change their mind and bring this phenomenal yacht to the masses. The new model will be even bigger and more luxurious than its predecessor, but it won’t start selling until 2019. That’s all the time you need to become rich enough to buy one, especially if you win Mega Millions jackpot in the next draw – $377.000.000 is up for grabs!
Lexus Sport Yacht concept was introduced to the world at an exclusive Toyota Motor Corp media event in Miami last January. Back then the company described it as a “bespoke one-off project”, but they changed their tune after it won Boat of the Year award at the 2018 Japan International Boat Show. Executive vice president at Toyota, Shigeki Tomoyama, revealed that Lexus Sport Yacht is entering mass production and it will be available to the US buyers in the latter half of 2019.
“Based on our amazing experiences in engineering, building, testing and showing the Lexus Sport Yacht concept last year, we’ve decided to take the next bold step of producing an all-new larger yacht that builds on the advanced nature of the concept while adding more comfort and living space,” explained Tomoyama.
The 42-feet long concept was built as a partnership between the Toyota Marine Division and the Marquis-Larson Boat Group. When it comes to mass-produced version, it will be 65 feet long, with enough entertaining space for up to 15 guests and luxury staterooms hidden away below deck. Lexus is yet to announce pricing information and further technical details, but if it’s anything like the original concept it will sell out in an instant.
