This man from New Jersey received a set of numbers he liked inside a cookie he purchased years ago, and decided to stick with them. It proved to be one of the best decisions he ever made, because the numbers eventually made him $1.000.000 richer.
Martin was one of many players who tried to get their hands on a gigantic $543.000.000 Mega Millions jackpot on July 24th. He fell one number short and missed the jackpot by the Mega Ball, scooping $1.000.000 in the process. This lucky man made the faithful purchase at the US Gas station, located on Blairstown Road in Hope, Warren County.
Martin makes a stop at this location almost every day, while driving to New Jersey for work. Lottery tickets are always a part of his shopping list, and he tends to set aside a few minutes to check the old ones. After placing one of his tickets under the scanner, the words “see clerk” popped up on the screen, and the lucky man thought there must be something wrong with the machine.
He complained about the scanner to one of the clerks, who immediately knew what was going on. Lottery officials informed them someone won the $1.000.000 prize at their store last night, and the gas station employee thought Mr. Martin must be the guy. He helped the winner check the numbers once again, to make sure his victory is legit. He’ll use the money to pay off his bills, get rid of the mortgage and put the rest toward savings.
