This lucky woman from Staten Island matched the six main winning numbers 1, 2, 15, 17, 27 and 56 in the New York Lotto draw on September 22nd. She made the life-changing purchase at the 86th Street Grocery and Snacks in Brooklyn. It was never her plan to buy a ticket that night, but she decided to give it a try after other multi-state games she was a fan of failed to bring her a fortune.
“I wasn’t winning anything on Powerball or Mega Millions, so I decided to give Lotto a try. I checked my ticket a few weeks after the drawing and couldn’t believe my eyes! I rarely play the lottery. I only play when I’m feeling lucky so I’m still in disbelief!” said To-Mejia.
The lucky woman opted to receive her jackpot as a lump sum payment, and she’ll end up getting around $4.700.000 after all the required withholdings. She’ll use the money to take care of her kids and go on a long European vacation.
